CITI Ministries - Board of Directors

LOUISE HAGGETT, President/Founder
Louise serendipitously discovered a severe priest shortage and clergy sexual abuse in the priesthood simultaneously in 1991 after being unable to find a priest to visit her mother in a senior assisted living facility. She founded CITI in 1992. She was educated at Boston University and Framingham State College and has a 35-year business background in advertising, television, marketing and sales.

In 1995, Haggett resigned her fulltime sales position in order to continue her education in the sociological field, leading her to publish in 2005 The Bingo Report: mandatory celibacy and clergy sexual abuse. Bingo presents two quantitative studies (priests and victims) and a literary study linking mandatory celibacy to clergy sexual abuse. It is available on amazon.com or through CITI’s bookstore.

REV. RICHARD HASSELBACH, Esquire, CITI Counsel and Host of rentapriest.blogspot.com
Richard was ordained a Franciscan in 1978 and became a campus ministry at Sienna College. He later taught at St. Bonaventure University. Richard obtained his JD at Boston College and PhD at Fordham University. In addition to his pastoral ministry, he currently is an Attorney Mediator with Hudson Valley Mediation Services, NY. He is also a published author of several articles on law, theology and spirituality.

REV. JAMES MAGMER, Deceased, advisory member and former editor of CITI’s newsletter.

REV. FRANK MCGRATH, Acting Chairman of the Board
Ordained for the Archdiocese in 1957, Fr. McGrath served in several Chicago area parishes for fifteen years, and for 25 years was a professor with the Chicago City Colleges, with assignments at the Chicago Police Academy, City-Wide and Truman Colleges.

In 1973, he was one of five Chicago priests who founded CORPUS, a national association of resigned/married priests, established to urge the utilization of an existing married priesthood and to encourage married priests to resume ministry. Within a few years it became possibly the largest association of married priests in church history.

He earned a doctorate in education from Indiana University. Now retired, he and his wife, Mary, while continuing to maintain a Chicago home, spend most of the year in Florida where he is active in local ecumenical activities– an interest begun over forty years ago when he served on the staff of Msgr. Jack Egan's Office of Urban Affairs. He is available for ministerial services upon request.

Fr. McGrath serves on the Advisory Board because he recognizes CITI as continuing the work originally designed for and begun by CORPUS. He is most supportive of CITI's lay leadership and their mission to call married priests back into ministry within our Roman Catholic Tradition.
