My life with CITI, Ministries has been a godsend in so many ways. Having studied at Catholic University in Washington, DC under expert tutelage and during the exciting times of Vatican II, I could not ask for a better preparation for my priestly ministry. My childhood ambition of being a missionary was fulfilled in my five years in Guatemala working with the Mayan Indians. Filled with the fire of Vatican II, I returned to the States only to witness the Church in a restorationist mode, reneging on the Council reforms. It was then that I felt the Holy Spirit wanted me to move forward.
I resigned my position, got employed in the health care field, met my wife, married, raised four children, and kept my priestly ministry alive though CITI, Ministries. I share my insights and experiences of forty-six years of priesthood and thirty-five years of married life with the many couples I prepare for their marriage journey. I am so much more effective and credible, able to relate directly to a person's own experiences, linking the human with the spiritual in real time. And they are very grateful that they have the world of the sacred opened to them again. So many have indicated that this opportunity afforded them the gateway to understand God in their lives.
This is the value of CITI, Ministries and its philosophy - Jesus never turned anyone away. We have accepted the servant paradigm promoted at Vatican II and readily answer all in need, be it in birth, life, or death, with the sacraments. With the grace of God our ministry is alive and well and flourishing.
